WELCOME TO RAJAJI

Uttarakhand's Majestic Tiger & Elephant Haven

Named in honour of freedom fighter C. Rajagopalachari, this legendary park forms the northwestern habitat limit for both the Asian Elephant and the Bengal Tiger.

Operated and managed by RAJA JI SAFARI HUB, at Jeep Safari Rajaji we connect nature enthusiasts, wildlife photographers, and visiting families with the untouched heart of these forests. Navigating rugged dry riverbeds (locally known as Raus), thick Sal forest trails, and wetland floodplains, our registered open 4x4 Gypsies offer an immersive, safe, and respectful wildlife exploration.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Essential guidelines regarding park timings, permit rules, identity proof, and safari etiquette.

The main tourism zones of Rajaji Tiger Reserve (including Chilla and Ranipur) generally operate for visitors from 15th November to 15th June every year, remaining closed during the monsoon season for ecological rejuvenation. Jhilmil Jheel Conservation Reserve operates under seasonal forest department announcements.

Safaris operate in two shifts daily:
• Morning Shift: 06:00 AM to 09:30 AM (ideal for birding and dawn animal activity).
• Afternoon Shift: 02:30 PM to 06:00 PM (ideal for golden sunset lighting and sightings near waterholes).
Note: Exact gate entry and exit times vary slightly depending on winter vs. summer sunrise and sunset.

As per Uttarakhand Forest Department safety regulations, a maximum of 6 guests (adults/children) are permitted per Maruti Gypsy vehicle, plus the mandatory registered Forest Nature Guide and driver. Larger families or groups are allocated multiple Gypsies traveling together.

Every traveling visitor must carry an original government-recognized photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License). For foreign nationals, a valid Passport and Indian Visa are mandatory. The name on the permit must match the ID presented at the forest gate.

Rajaji Tiger Reserve is a real, unfenced natural biosphere. Wildlife roam freely across hundreds of square kilometers. While our experienced drivers and certified guides track recent animal alarm calls and tracks to maximize encounter opportunities, wild animal sightings are never guaranteed by nature. Enjoying the pristine forest environment, fresh air, and Shivalik scenery is an integral part of the safari experience.
